With New York Fashion Week fall 2012 kicking off on February 9, 2012 many of us fashion lovers are completely dying to see what each designer will show, since we're poor and can't get tickets to ANY of the shows. At 10 a.m. eastern time BCBG were the first to display their threads on the runway. Red, blue, brown, mustard, and pale pink have replaced the neon colors that dominated last fall (boooo!!!). Noted by Merle Ginsberg there were, " color blocking,-but much deeper hues," and "dresses also combined regular fabrics with lots of sheer inserts, and the skirts of the dresses have long overskirts and shorter fronts, often centered with pleats." Ummmm, let me explain that statement better. BCBG style was very 70's, so much so it looked like I could find the same clothes in my mom's closet. The "rabbit looking" fur on the leather jackets, pleats were used in places were pleats should never go colorblocking was used in a very regurgitative way. The sheer inserts gave the dresses texture and appeal but I was hoping for a new modern day look to this 70's style. Oh well, we'll just have to wait for Fashion Week Paris to be awed.
