TAKE ME HIGHER ANGELA!!

Forget about six inch heels, Angela Simmons (founder of Pastry shoes along with her sister Vanessa) actually walked in these sky high 8 inch mary jane heels on 106&Park. While getting ready for the show Angela decided to capture the moment with this picture. This designer has made a very sophistocated shoe without it looking "Eddie Monster-ish". Im sure Ms. Nene Leakes will be wearing this designer soon since she is the self proclaimed high heel wearer despite her 5 foot 11 inch frame.

RIHANNA IS FLY IN STUDDED SHORTS AND CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN BOOTS!!!

Rihanna is rocking some dangerous pieces in London today!! Lets start with the heels, they are Christian Louboutin boots and can run you a little over A THOUSAND DOLLARS! The six inch heels come well above the thigh and are complete with a red bottom. The spike studded shorts are worn interestingly with a jean jacket tied around her waist UNDERNEATH THE SHORTS. This trend gives it a tomboyish look which complements the heels in a harajuku way. The "Teyana Taylor like" hat and Ray-Ban shades are the cherries on top. I approve this look and I'm sure that many of us will come up with our own creative way of duplicating the look for the spring/summer.

ANTHONY VACCARELLO FALL 2012 COLLECTION AT PARIS FASHION WEEK

If you can't make Paris Fashion Week this year don't worry...I've got you covered. Anthony Vaccarello theme for this year..asymmetry. He began his show with a navy blue stretch material pairing strapless dresses with a one sleeved blazer (giving it a Phantom of the Opera feel, all that was missing were masks). Hardware was placed in sensitive areas for security and regular zippers were used instead of invisible zippers on the side. Beautiful gold metallics and green prints were constructed into blouses, sarong influenced dresses, and strapless jumpers to give the collection variety and creativity. I have to say that the metallics were well sewn by the seamstresses. Metallic is extremely hard to sew on because if your needle isn't thin enough you will snag your material and if you pull on it too much the feed on your sewing machine will skip and you will have a loose seam. WOW...the seamstresses for this collection should charge extra for those!!!! Btw the rest of the collection were a bunch of all black numbers......can we say BORING?! WE HAVE NOT WA!TED !N VA!N: PAR!S FASH!ON WEEK HAS ARR!VED!!

This picture made you look twice huh?? Noo, her waist isn't really that small. This hourglass silhouette dress was designed by none other than Portuguese designer Fatima Lopes for her fall winter ready to wear 2013 collection. She cleverly cinched in the waist with deep triangles instead of a curved line like many other designers such as Dolce & Gabbana and Versace have done in past collections. Lopes also made the dress form fitting by not only penciling the skirt but by using the black side gussets as a means of tapering the printed material in the front (clever clever Fatima). The use of having the model wear red 80's length fake nails gave the ensemble a very lady like look.
Again Fatima Lopes uses the geometric triangle side gusset method again, but on black and nude leather. The sleeves are shredded which give the dress an edgy rocker look. The huge padded shoulders that all of the popular people have been wearing this past year was non existent in this collection and may be a possible sign of what other designers have excluded as well. The red nails were paired with a red lip and a 40's inspired hat that sits right on the models forehead and looks like an evil rose.

Fox fur paired with leather was also featured in Lopes' collection in Paris today. A lines were used heavily to complete this look along with deep reds. I'm happy to see that booties are still a hot commodity for next year and are looking fierce on the model. The haunting forehead hat is back but in fur and is accompanied by "eye black" giving the collection an American football look. I guess with all the lights she may need it. FAB AT THE GRAMMYS!! (and the ugly)

Ok ok I know I'm a little late but I just have to share my opinion on all of the gorgeous and not so gorgeous fashions on the Grammys red carpet. Lets start with the beautiful Miranda Lambert. She wore a Pavoni dress that was nude and overlayed with lace cut outs. The dress was form fitted which showed off her curves. Although I normally would BLAST someone for wearing nude this time it gets a pass because Miranda wore it well. She wore Tiffany jewelry and a clutch purse for accessories which gave gave her just the right amount of umph for the ensemble.

I think Alicia Keys and Bruno Mars shared the same hairstylist the night of the Grammys. ANYWAY...Alicia wore Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2012 collection and look stunning. The gold necklace accent really played up her sun kissed skin and makeup. She paired the couture look with Christian Louboutin shoes that looked like faux Channel heels. The length of the dress could've been 1 1/2 shorter to give her legs a bit more length, but overall she looks like a diva!

Adam Levine cleans up nice huh??!! In a blue Tom Ford three piece suit he wowed the Grammys audience. The polka dot pocket handkerchief and the ticket pocket on the blazer gave Levine a mature look ditching the tattoo rocker attitude for the red carpet. The break on his slacks perfectly graced his shoes. I was looking forward to seeing more men in nice suits like Rick Ross, but I guess everyone opted to let Adam have this one.

Sasha, Sasha, Sasha.....GIIIRRLLL YOU MUST'VE BEEN HAVING A LADY GAGA MOMENT!!! Even Lady Gaga would have made this work in her own way. I do not know who Sasha Gradiva is wearing but if she would've worn this to homeroom she would get sent straight to the principle's office. Don't get me wrong, I am an advocate of creativity but it needs to be tied into a them or maybe this would be better as a magazine editorial. Well Sasha look at it this way, people talked about Nikki Minaj waayy more than they did you. UUUHHH!! THE ABSOULUTE WORST AT THE OSCARS!!

Okay soooooooo..... where do I begin? From the top or bottom? Lets start with the hair. Its purple. AND it doesn't even complement the dress, which is Badgley Mischa. If you want to mix red and blue and wear it as a hair color you must take into consideration the whole outfit. The purple hair and the green sequence from the dress clashed horribly and the lipstick looked like she used a crayola marker (what color is that? Fuchsia?). The designers for Badgley Mischa should text Kelly and tell her to remove their dress from her body immediately!  The entire night that she co-hosted with Giuliana Rancic on E!, Kelly said repeatedly that many of the women on the Oscars red carpet who wore long sleeved dresses "looked old" and that it "aged them". I am convinced that she did not look in the mirror before she left the dressing room because the dress that she wore looked like something that her mum would've been wearing. Kelly Osborne made the dress look like something that a fire breather would wear. Sorry Kelly but this is sooo DRECKITUDE!!

THE ONLY WAY TO COME TO THE OSCARS: CASKET SHARP!

Dressed in Tom Ford, Gwyneth Paltrow literally "man handled" the Oscars by upstaging the ever so glamorous Angelina Jolie. The simple all white dress was adorned with a cape that was worn over it that looked much like the concept of a woman wearing a man's blazer when she may have gotten cold at night. The diamond cuff and rings by Anna Hu worn on the right arm added just enough testosterone to compliment the cape. Her hair was worn back which was genus and her shoes were Jimmy Choo "Koko" platform sandals, but its too bad that we couldn't see them because the dress was fabulously too long (-_-). Gwyneth blew EVERYBODY'S wig off with this ensemble because it's was so unexpected and out of the box. Who ever was her stylist this year should always be her stylist  beause they did a fantasic job and with gas prices being so high I know they would appreciate the work.

Vera Wang custom made this emerald green dress for Viola Davis. Ms. Wang is ON MY LIST as being a designer who keeps every detail in mind. The strapless beaded upper bodice was daring by adding a "V" split (can we say double sided tape). The taffeta and chiffon dress sucked the mid-section in very well with lots of boning and well thought out placement of darts. Pleats were ironed into the chiffon and ruffles were intricately placed seamlessly in the dress. Vera Wang gets an A+ for the design being creative, fun, and complementive of the body. The SEAMSTRESS gets an A++ and a doggie biscuit for making the dress because all seamstresses know that the hard part is in the construction of the dress!! KUDOS SEAMSTRESS, KU-DOSSS!!

Finally, Giuliana Rancic was very pretty in a Basil Soda dress. The lace sleeves were beautiful and lace also follwed the sides of her body. The diamond shaped bead work was interesting and stopped at her upper thigh area. The beading worked its way into tulle which look much fancy-er than the stuff you'd find at your local Hancock Fabrics Store. Her hair was pulled back in a bun which gave her an old Hollywood look, and a red lip pulled everything together. "G" has been wearing a lot of Basil Soda lately and I don't blame her because the spring/summer 2012 collection is smoking hot! Round of applause Giuliana, round of applause!!

ready, set, FASHION WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With New York Fashion Week fall 2012 kicking off on February 9, 2012 many of us fashion lovers are completely dying to see what each designer will show, since we're poor and can't get tickets to ANY of the shows. At 10 a.m. eastern time BCBG were the first to display their threads on the runway. Red, blue, brown, mustard, and pale pink have replaced the neon colors that dominated last fall (boooo!!!). Noted by Merle Ginsberg there were, " color blocking,-but much deeper hues," and "dresses also combined regular fabrics with lots of sheer inserts, and the skirts of the dresses have long overskirts and shorter fronts, often centered with pleats."  Ummmm, let me explain that statement better. BCBG style was very 70's, so much so it looked like I could find the same clothes in my mom's closet.   The "rabbit looking" fur on the leather jackets, pleats were used in places were pleats should never go colorblocking was used in a very regurgitative way. The sheer inserts gave the dresses texture and appeal but I was hoping for a new modern day look to this 70's style. Oh well, we'll just have to wait for Fashion Week Paris to be awed.
